Gambling Addiction

Blackjack, poker, roulette, slot machines, the list can go on and on. There are numerous exciting, adrenaline-bursting gambling options out there. You think to yourself that today is your lucky day and dive deep into the world of cards, dices, and numbers. Unfortunately, usually there are much more unlucky days than the lucky ones, and there’s a reason they say that the house always wins. If you are going to the casino to have fun and are ready to lose some money you should be fine; at least you’ll have fun. However, if the only acceptable outcome for you is to win and double, triple, or quadruple your money, either you should be a professional gambler, or you got a problem. Whether you play roulette or try your luck with the one-handed bandit, the odds are not in your favor and math never lies.

One-time gambling fiasco is something you’ll be able to get over. However, if you’ll keep going back for more, you might become an addict, and that can lead you to some severe consequences. Gambling addiction can be devastating. One can lose all. Remembering how you once got lucky and won can be motivating. You remember that magical moment when you got flush in poker and wiped the table clean. It was beyond amazing. You want it to happen again so very much. However, usually attempts to repeat this kind of moments end with disappointment and failure, which make you angrier and more reckless. Consequently, you end up taking more risks and losing more money.

According to www.psychguides.com: “Gambling addiction can occur when a person feels that they are in financial ruin and can only solve their problems by gambling what little they have in an attempt to get a large sum of money. Unfortunately, this almost always leads to a cycle in which the gambler feels they must win back their losses, and the cycle goes on until the person is forced to seek rehabilitation to break their habit. Another type of gambling addiction results when a gambler plays the games and makes risky bets to experience the emotional high associated with taking huge risks that occasionally pay off.”

If you feel you might be prone to gambling addiction the best way to stay safe is to simply never gamble. However, if minor loses is something you can handle easily playing some blackjack while sipping a cocktail can be fun now and then. And always remember, you are playing to have fun, not to make money.
