Make yourself the top priority in your life!

Did you know that it’s ok to make yourself the top priority in your life?

We all know that life can be pretty hectic sometimes.

How many times have you found yourself barely being able to catch your breath even before you start juggling work, school, friends, family, and anything else that you may have going on in your life?

Taking care of yourself can often be overshadowed and sometimes even forgotten.

The big question is how can you possibly do everything else that is required of you when you’re only running on fumes?

If you want to know how you can be the best person you can be and still handle everything that’s thrown at you on a daily basis, here’s the key:

You need to take care of yourself and make yourself a priority so that you can make sure that everything you’re responsible for is handled from a healthy and strong place.

The Best way you can achieve your goals is with a healthy mind, body and soul FIRST! It’s important for you to learn how to make yourself a priority; and more importantly… love doing so!

First things first, knowing that you’re overwhelmed, you have to admit that something’s got to give?

So let’s take The first step in making yourself a priority, which will make your life a much easier place to live.

O.k, so:

Try and visualize everything that takes up your time every day. Picture everything that it takes to hold a job, go to school, do your homework, have a healthy relationship with a boyfriend or girlfriend, plan and enjoy your social life, and maybe deal with your parents, take care of your dog or cat, or play sports. Really visualize everything it takes to do all the things that make up your life.

Got it? Good!

Now, take all of those things you could think of and put them in a safe place.don’t worry, Chances are they aren’t going anywhere.

The next important thing to understand is that, starting to take care of yourself is easy and doesn’t require a whole lot of effort.

Here are 5 things you can do to start taking care of you first:

1. Practice Mindfulness:

Some of you may know what mindfulness is, and some of you may not. For those of you who do not, mindfulness is the practice of being aware. During our long and stressful days, we tend to forget to re-collect ourselves and be aware of her surroundings. For 10 minutes today, sit and be still. Turn off your phone and leave in another room. Put on some soothing music or sit in silence. You can close your eyes or if you don’t want to you don’t have to. The goal for this is to be aware of your surroundings and of yourself. Deep breaths in and deep breaths out and repeat. Your breath is what you always will have. So it is essential to remember to come back to it. It’s the most constant and stable thing in your life.

2. Write a gratitude journal, and add to it little by little every day:

Most the time we forget how fortunate we are. We all do it. It’s OKAY that we do it, as long as we recognize it. But a good way to change that, is by writing a gratitude journal. Every day add at least five things that you are grateful for. Today I am grateful for: my dog, the food in my fridge, the clothes on my back, the sheets and blankets and pillows on my bed, and my loving family. See, it’s easy. Pick up a pen, and write.

3. Clean up!

Here is something we always say: “A clean space equals a clean mind”. Any amount of clutter and lack of organization can weigh you down far greater than you ever realize. How can you expect to have a clean and relaxing and organized life when you’re home or your room is completely messy? Take 20 minutes out of your day and clean up! You will feel so much better with a clean space.

4. Make a healthy meal:

Going to the grocery store and picking out healthy ingredients and making yourself a healthy meal most definitely counts as taking care of yourself. We know sometimes after a long day of work you just want to pop in a soup with noodles and veg out on your couch and watch the latest reality show, but taking that little extra time to make sure your body is taking in the good nutrients that it needs, instead of all that other garbage will make you feel so much better mentally and physically in the long run.

5. Listen to your favorite music and dance it out:

I know this may sound cheesy, but it’s what works for many, and we are sure it will work for you. Everyone likes to bust a move sometimes. Get those endorphins flowing and that serotonin levels up! Nothing a good karaoke session can’t fix! Cant sing or dance? The just listen. Music is known to have therapeutic effects.

Taking care of yourself comes in many different forms. Not one person has the same remedy for the madness. So it’s important for you to start experimenting with what works for you. Once you get in a groove, you’ll never know why you didn’t prioritize yourself sooner.
