OPIOID OVERDOSES NOW DEADLIER THAN VIETNAM

CBS News is reporting a very startling fact, that opioid drug overdoses killed more American men and women last year than the Vietnam War.

With the Opioid and Fentanyl epidemics considered one of the worst health crises to hit our country in recent memory, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that 64,070 people died from overdoses last year, a 21% increase from 2015.

The number of people who died in the Vietnam War, which went for years? 58,200.

Comparing these numbers to over 35,000 motor vehicle deaths in 2015, or the peak of murders in the States, when 24,703 people were killed in 1991, is indeed startling.

Many have made a strong call to action against the opioid crisis, and as these figures were being released, President Donald Trump told CNN he would finally make a national emergency promise to fight opioids with a “major announcement” next week.
